Students practice saying numbers. This is good practice even for advanced learners. They won’t believe it, but let them try.
Step 1
In “Counting Song 1 – 7,” students sing along with the numbers: “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7… 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.”
Step 2
“The Even Counting Song” is harder. Try singing along: “2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12… 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2.”
Step 3
Now, as students know the basic melody for this 12-second song, they can compose their own songs. For example, a student sings “100, 80, 25, 10… 16, 17, 43, 1” to the melody, and the rest of the group writes the numbers down. Thus the group gets speaking, listening, and pronunciation practice.
Don’t stop with numbers. Students can make a list of words for this melody.
